Terms of use
Shorgol is made for harmless fun with friends. These terms keep it that way for everyone.
The short version
- Play, share and challenge your friends. It's free and needs no account.
- Don't use Shorgol to harass, insult or frighten anyone. Pranks should make people laugh, not hurt.
- Results are for fun, not science.
- If you break the rules, we may remove your links.
These terms
Shorgol (shorgol.me) and its Android app are run by Shorgol. By using the site or the app you accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you don't accept them, please don't use Shorgol. The guidelines say the same things more simply, in Bangla.
Who can play
You must be at least 13 to use Shorgol on your own. If you're younger, play with a parent's or guardian's permission and company.
Just for fun
Every game on Shorgol is entertainment. No result, whether how "nineties" you are, where you're from, how old the age guesser thinks you are, or what the love calculator says, is a scientific, psychological or professional assessment. The love calculator and "Shorgol News" are pranks; the stories are made up and satirical, not true. We've checked our district, food, dialect and spelling facts carefully, but mistakes are possible; please tell us when you find one.
What not to do
When using Shorgol, you won't:
- harass, insult, threaten or frighten anyone, or gang up on someone;
- put abuse, obscenity, hate, or attacks on any religion, ethnicity, gender or group in a name;
- reveal anyone else's private information (phone number, address, photos, secrets);
- make links pretending to be someone else, especially a well-known person, an organisation or a government authority;
- use scripts or bots to play, to sway votes or leaderboards, or to get around our limits;
- harm the site, try to break in, or slow it down with excessive requests;
- do anything unlawful under the laws of Bangladesh.
Prank rules
A prank is only funny if the person pranked laughs too. So:
- Prank only friends who'll take it in good fun, never to hurt, shame or get someone into trouble.
- Don't pass off a "Shorgol News" page or a screenshot of one as real news, or crop it so the satire label is cut off.
- Don't use names someone types into the love calculator to tease, blackmail or embarrass them in front of others.
- Pranks reveal themselves within seconds and let the pranked person delete what they typed. Don't try to get around these protections.
Names and answers you give
The names and answers you give on a link are yours. Showing them is how the game works, so you let us store them and show them to the link's maker and other players as each game's rules describe, until the link expires or you delete them. You're responsible for what you type. If you use someone's real name, make sure it can't harm them.
Reports and removals
Every link page has a "report" link at the bottom. When several different people report a link it hides itself, and then we take a look. We may hide or delete any link we believe breaks these terms, without notice. If you think we removed something by mistake, write to us.
Our name, logo and cards
Shorgol's name, logo, the games' writing and the card designs belong to us. You're welcome to share your result cards on Facebook, WhatsApp or anywhere else; that's what they're for. But you may not copy our games or designs into another site or app, or use Shorgol's name to present yourself as us, without our permission. Credits for the fonts and data sources we use are on the about page.
Changing or closing games
We add games, change existing ones, and sometimes switch one off for a while or for good. When a game is switched off, its links can't be played either. We don't promise that Shorgol will always be available or that any data will be kept forever.
Liability
Shorgol is provided as it is, free of charge. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss, lost data or anything someone else does as a result of using Shorgol. Whoever writes something on a link is responsible for it. Nothing here limits rights that the law gives you and that can't be excluded by agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh. Any dispute that can't be settled by talking will be resolved by the competent courts of Dhaka.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms when we need to, and the date at the top will change with them. Using Shorgol after a change means you accept the new terms. We'll announce big changes on the site.
